Violet - Togetherness EP (PRE-ORDER)
Fresh off the back of releases on One Eyed Jacks, Snuff Trax and Cómeme, as well as her much talked-about all-women covers of beloved house classics, from UR's 'Transition' to Mike Dunn's 'So Let It Be House', Lisbon's Violet readies her first release for her own imprint - Naive. Naive is a place to come together, learn together and evolve together - while maintaining our own voice.
'Togetherness' EP is the first release on the label. It encapsulates Violet's jungle and UK rave influences as well as the naivety of early Chicago house and Portuguese techno records from the 90s. Both heavy and soft, creative and functional, this is a record that cements years of experimentation with production techniques and DJing around Europe. The result is four deadly, road-tested but off-kilter, bangers.
Title track 'Togetherness' is pure jungle-referencing dancefloor ammunition, starting out as a sober exercise and slowly taking things to dance delirium; 'Silver Lining' layers breaks and chilled futuristic D'n'B ambience over a 909 house beat; 'Cloud 9' takes a rougher approach to jungle with a bass as dubby as they come for extra stoner rave vibes. Príncipe regular BLEID, one of Lisbon's most talented and discursive new producers, takes Togetherness and injects it with her trademark dreamy textures and evocative melodies.
